Anyone 55 & older can receive supportive services from the case manager and participate in wellness and learning activities. 55 North’s transportation services and home-delivered meals are available to seniors living in East End, Hyde Park, Madisonville, Mount Lookout, Oakley, O’Bryonville, and South Norwood.

At 55 North, we provide essential services for older adults, empowering our members and program participants to safely age in place at home.

Our essential support services include nutritious meals, transportation, social services, and health and wellness programming.

These ongoing services promote independent living by ensuring access to basic needs such as food, medical care and community connection.

MEALS

Delicious and nutritious meals

  • Whether served in a congregate setting or home-delivered by our friendly drivers, we know access to appealing, nutritious meals improves overall health and socialization.
  • For those who are isolated or cannot get out, delicious home-delivered meals provide access to nutrition with diabetic meal options available weekly.
  • Group events often include a meal and are offered in a friendly and social setting following safety protocols and recommended guidelines.

TRANSPORTATION

Convenient and safe door-to-door transportation services

  • Door-to-door transportation promotes independence and easy access to medical and business appointments, grocery shopping and banking errands, and community programs.
  • Our 55 North drivers provide safe, on-time, individualized transportation to those living in East End, Hyde Park, Madisonville, Mt. Lookout, Oakley, O’Bryonville and South Norwood.
  • Seniors 60+ can reserve a ride free of charge.
  • Donations are accepted to help defray our costs.

SOCIAL SERVICES

Medicare & health care case management includes assistance with qualifying, enrolling, scheduling and paying for adequate insurance, public benefits and prescription drug coverage.

  • Financial matters assistance with financial matters, including monitoring mail, banking, bill payments and advocacy with landlords, insurance claims and debt situations.
  • Assessment & referrals to community services to maintain independent living and wellness.
  • Housing evaluation to assist with housing to determine best situation based on financial and physical circumstances.
  • Crisis intervention in emergency situations such as food insecurity or abuse.
  • Caregiver support groups for professional advice, resources, and information and referrals to community services.

Our Social Services Director, Susan Pittman, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Counselor with the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP), provides a wide variety of individualized services to support independence and health.

We provide both digital & in-person services

  • Innovative and engaging programs are offered online and in-person.
  • Promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, our monthly calendar includes daily exercise classes and meditation, educational lectures and interactive discussion groups, online group games and cultural activities.

CAREGIVER CONNECTIONS

Engages and empowers family members and friends caring for an aging loved one.

Through monthly group meetings, quarterly writing workshops, information sessions and trusted resources, caregivers learn how to reduce stress and cope with the demands of caregiving.

DIGITAL CONNECT

Free one-on-one tech support and complimentary computer tablets and internet access for those who qualify

With our full calendar of online health, wellness and social programming, participants stay connected and have digital access to telehealth appointments, worship services, ordering groceries and more, all while remaining safe at home.
